Screen Resolution Issue

After booting up the live cd The Full Monty (KDE), the screen resolution was very grainy! I checked everything in settings and all looked good, like it should. How do I get the resolution to clear up? I also found it to be quite slow in response time. When I clicked on the main menu, it took about 10 seconds to load and the same with everything i clicked on. I have never had any of the above happen in ANY other distro.

Is this only on the live cd and would be fine if installed? I mean, I don't want to install if I'm going to have to sit and fix things right out of the box!

If you write your system specs it would be easier to figure out what is happening.

I think you should tell us a bit more about your setup. Video card? RAM? And so on.

When you say that you "checked everything in settings", are you talking about System Settings ("Configure Your Desktop")? And do you mean that the resolution shown there is the correct one? (A too low resolution will usually give you an enlarged but fuzzy picture, seldom a grainy one unless the pic you're watching is all too small.)

And the slow response time certainly isn't typical.  Did you check the md5sum of the iso before you burned it?

I checked the graphics settings and all were correct.
16 Million colors and resolution is 1980x1080

Intel Pentium E5300 Processor
4 gigs memory
Intel graphics card built in GMA 3100
Hard Drive is a Crucial Solid State 128 gig

Monitor is an ASUS 27" VE276

I would have tried to replicate your problem but I don't have an Intel card: I've mainly used nVidia cards for the last fifteen years. It's clear from your last post that you'd set the resolution in the PCLinuxOS Control Center ("Configure Your Computer") but not in System Settings ("Configure Your Desktop"). For somebody with experience of Intel graphics the contents of your /etc/X11/xorg.conf might throw some light on the problem. And of course a screenshot would make it clearer what the problem really is.

Did you check the md5sum of the iso?
