Enlightenment Problems
« on: October 02, 2012, 06:41:29 PM »
OK, first question: Is it compatible with 64 bit? 'Cuz I feel as though I'm wasting my time.
So, first time, I booted the LiveUSB I made with LinuxLiveUSB Creator after downloading the iso. The program verified that the ISO was valid, and off it went. So, in the boot menu, I selected Live Mode. I just get the horizon and sun with the E thing. I sat there for 1 hour staring at the screen. Then, I decided to restart with no boot splash. After a few lines, it read "ERROR: Could not mount livecd. Running in limited shell." Then it gives me something else and then a $. I will upload photos later. Oh, and its an HP p6510y as usual. I will try it on an HP Z210 Workstation in a day.
I love me some Linux, but I used to think _Ubuntu was superior. That is, until after installing it on 4 machines I had to use my backup PCLinux USB to repair it 'cuz I tried a nightly build and it was @$$. Now, I keep an _Ubuntu LiveUSB key, a PCLinuxFM and Pheonix key, and a Win7 key. Just in case.

I'm not sure to understand. Where did you get an e17 PCLinuxOS Live CD?  the last one I saw is from long time ago.

I found a softpedia download link or something of the like.

Edit: http://linux.softpedia.com/get/System/Operating-Systems/Linux-Distributions/PCLinuxOS-Enlightenment-E-17-63605.shtml

Look at the date. That image is almost 2 years old.

I haven't found any newer, so... yeah. The point being that I'm trying to install it on a flash drive, and VirtualBox messes up the bootloader installation. Now, I just want the install ISO to boot on my PC.

I don't know if task-enlightenment works with the last version of LXDE but that's what I would do, install LXDE (maybe the mini version), update and install task-enlightenment.

That way I would have a working install up to date (not in e17 packages) that may work in the long run

Thanks for the help guys, but I got it to work. The LiveUSB creator I used didn't work too well - the livecd.sqfs file wasn't there.
