You didn't say if you had tried already and had trouble or have not tried and don't know where to go....

Most everything can be configured from the PCLinuxOS Control Center (most of the time, the icon looks like a crossed wrench and screwdriver and the popup says "Configure Your Computer"). You will need to open that control center (requires your root password) and click on Networking, then Set up a new connection.

There are a few wireless cards that are still a problem, but I don't think you'll have any trouble with yours, if I recall correctly.

If you've already had trouble and are not sure how to proceed, it would be helpful if you would post back with a summary of what you have already done.

If you think you need to start over, this post is helpful as well...

I'm sure you will get it solved!

Hi there,
I have tried installing the software cd which came with the Wi Fi card using Wine but the program won't run when I try to run the program in Wine!
I have followed your instructions but I don't get networking option only, the options I have are: Network services, Network & internet & Network sharing.

That won't work, as far as I know... I think I'd uninstall Wine until I got everything else configured.... most everything you need won't require Wine. How are you getting online? another computer?   Is this one a desktop or laptop?

You want 'Network & Internet' ... click on 'Set Up a New Network Interface' and will get a list of interfaces to use (Ethernet, DSL, Wireless....) many of the wireless cards are already recognized in Linux. If it is recognized, it will show up in the interface list that appears. You can choose it there and configure it with your modem information. If you use some sort of encryption, you'll need to enter that information too.

I am not positive but I think that is a model that I have used on severa. machines running PCLOS.

My memory is not good so I can't talk you through it without actually doing it and I don't know where my Netgear dongle is at the moment.

If you go to the index page of this forum and use the search function but not the one on the upper right of the page, and enter "ndiswrapper", I think you will find a number of posts explaining how to set up a windows only device in PCLOS. I think Pclos already has the drivers for it so it is a straight forward install without the use of your driver disks.
