Recommended Wireless Headset
« on: September 27, 2012, 01:56:44 PM »
I have a Lenovo V570 laptop (I5, 2.3GHz, 6GB) using KDE PCLOS.

I'm looking to get a wireless headset and want to know what people
recommend that works with PCLOS with no problems (or how to overcome
them).

Thanks in advance.

It really depends on what you plan to use the headset for.

There are a lot of bluetooth units around from really inexpensive to ridiculous prices.

The problem is that the inherent delays in bluetooth will drive you nuts for many applications.

To get an idea, if you and a friend have cell phones with bluetooth headsets, call each other while using them and then try to hold a conversation while watching each other from a few feet away.

Many videos are will drive you nuts if you do not have a means to delay the picture to match the delay in sound.

My hearing aids have bluetooth capability and it is almost useless because the delay between the movement of a speakers lips and the sound makes it impossible for my brain to link the two.

Many people with normal hearing do not realize just how much they actually depend on subliminal lip reading until they face this delay.

If you really need wireless, consider getting one of the FM types that have no noticeable lag in sound.
