i noticed i would have to go to the control center and play around with the sound configurations
file:///home/blackadam/Desktop/sound.png and change them between   EMU10K1 (snd_emu10k1 [ALSA]) and audigy [OSS] a few times and restart in between when
file:///home/blackadam/Desktop/sound1.png
and in the 2nd screen i get the options between Intel HDA driver (snd_hda_intel (ALSA) and unknown i'll leave it with that default when i get the sound to work then the next time i shut down the pc when i restart it the sounds gone again

Not sure to understand, do you still have the problem?

What DE are you using?

I tried to avoid Pulse Audio for long time but it is better and now is what I'm using with some extra things to help

i tried setting it with and without pulse audio in the sound configuration and no luck.

yes after i ran the command that were first suggested i spent most of my time in the sound configurations checking and unchecking the options i have there to see if i could get something to work

I hope Just 17 appears soon, he knows a lot about Pulse Audio, I fixed the sound in my computer just reading his previous answers to others

I missed the thread  :(

Do wonder if the problem still exists?

at last i lost my sound, too, but a simple alsaconf as root in a terminal fix it.
and pulseaudio is running fine, again.
