As long as you are using your brain (reading, working puzzles, playing challenging games, maybe even packaging software...), I think you have a much better chance of keeping it away.

Keep on dreaming. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Well, I've seen too many people who are more affected after they quit reading and challenging their brain.... but you are right, too....  if you are going to get it, there's not really a whole lot you can do...

I saw what it did to my father, and I'll fight it any way I can......

post count doesn't help either

You could start afresh and use 6T  instead of  T6

We would know it's you but your post count would look more sane

 Undecided

Sure way.

I did not say it doesn't help, just that it doesn't help much.

Somewhere (dementia here) I'd read a research showing that the habit of reading daily delays Alzheimer. I don't know about the "brain gymnastics" but I think it doesn't.
I shall pass this way but once;
any good therefore that I can do,
or any kindness that I can show
let me not defer nor neglect it,
for I shall not pass this way again.

First of all:
Parkinson-Dementia-Altzheimer and all the related brain malfunctions are different for each and every person.

The only thing we can do is try..............and try again.
I had treatment for about 4 months and I feel 1000 times better now.
I was told to take <Sermion> for a while , and see how it goes.
Right now, I am not taking it anymore, and still feel fine ( most of the times )
A guy I met at the hospital 2 years ago, 6 years younger than me, had his medicine changed 6 or 7 times already. Whatever he takes ( same as mine ) makes him physically sick and mentally depressed. He is intelligent, well educated , loves reading, does math for fun and was a sportsman all his life.
He feels he is loosing the battle. Only 60 years old.
If I just could find a 21 year young girlfriend for him, I am sure she would get him right

Guys, if you are suffering, or are afraid of what may come, Keep trying.
If you are on a medical scheme, consult at least 3 doctors .
Doctors are people too, and each has his own opinion, either professional or personal.

OK, going for that famous 2nd cup of coffee after breakfast  ;D ;D

I'm the youngest of seven.  The oldest last spring died due to Alzheimer's.  He was 58 when he was diagnosed as early stage Alzheimers.

I have noticed... being 58... that the memory ain't what it used to be.  Whoaaaaa... sure hoping this isn't heredity.

It isn't necessarily hereditary.  I know someone who has advanced Alzheimer's since he was in his 60s.  His father is still around and of sharp mind but is absolutely devastated seeing his son this way.
