We should probably get in touch with Mr. Pinheiro about permission to use the artwork before I submit this to Mozilla.com for approval and posting to their Personas library.  (Is the 4.10 artwork licensed under Creative Commons, GPL, LGPL or something similar?)

Feedback, please.  Thanks!

Later On,
D
I got the wallpaper from KDE-QuickGit, according to the coping doc, everything there is GPL v2.
Looking good BTW. ;D ;D ;) ;) 8) 8) ;D

I went ahead and contacted Nuno Pinheiro.  His reply to me was:

have fun with it evething i do for kde is LGPL so use it and have fun with it

So we're good to go forward.  (I've learned from experience it is better to gain permission first, if only to respect the artist's wishes in the matter.)

I used task-theme-PCLOS410" to get the main components for the theme.  I had to go into Config Your Desktop to choose the theme and had to go back in to check some boxes to chose the proper artwork for the splash and log-in screens.  All look GREAT!

Question:  how do I get the nice looking application splash screens in post #1?  Looking to use LibreOffice, GIMP, and K3b.  THANKS

Just posting this for the benefit of anyone who would like to install this theme from the repo :
It is called PCLOS410 and that is the term to use for Synaptic search.
If you want the whole theme, get task-theme-PCLOS410 or get individual items as you feel necessary.

As programs are updated from the repo, the new splashes will be included with each program. Right now you'll have to install them manually. The LibreOffice splash, I suppose, you'll have to manually install each time you update Libre.

@slingshot - sorry didn't mean to steal your thunder!  Just took a chance and found it myself by searching "PCLOS410".  The "task" worked fine!

@Linuzoid - thanks for the info.  I'll want for the official updates as they happen.  For the manual LibreOffice splash, can you document a procedure so I don't mess it up?  I looked in LibreOffice but didn't see anything obvious.  Probably looking in the wrong place.

I liked the brushed aluminum look but I'm ready for some color again!   ;D

So I figured out what was wrong with my header image for the Firefox Persona I'm building.  It was a matter of understanding how it is rendered.  At lesser resolutions, only the right-hand most portion that can be displayed of the 3000 x 200 pixels is rendered.  I'll redo my header so it looks better at all resolutions.  After that, and some more testing, I'll post it to mozilla.org for approval and addition to the library of available personas.

EDIT:  In the meantime, I did a theme for Chromium/Chrome.  It's available at:

http://www.themebeta.com/node/50751

Feedback, please.

You'll need to login as root, I use Krusader for this. Then navigate to /opt/libreoffice4.0/program. Copy the intro.png to this location. You'll be aksed to overwrite, answer yes. You can also rename the original intro to something like intro-orig.png and then copy the new intro to this location.  ;)

Beautiful job.   I installed the task-libreoffice4.0 rpm in synaptic.  Worked like a charm.

Today I got & installed these via Synaptic:

Commit Log for Tue Apr 16 15:58:55 2013

Installed the following packages:
gfxboot-theme-PCLOS410 (1.0-1pclos2013)
kdm-theme-PCLOS410 (1.0-1pclos2013)
ksplash-theme-PCLOS410 (1.0-1pclos2013)
plymouth-theme-PCLOS410 (1.0-1pclos2013)
task-theme-PCLOS410 (1.0-1pclos2013)

I went to Other Applications> Configuration> Configure your Desktop> Workspace appearance, but don't see how to invoke the snazzy PCLOS410 wallpaper.  Workspace appearance is currently "Glassified", how to put on PCLOS410 wallpaper?

Hi, Gang,

Mozilla.org still seem to be in the process of moving their getpersonas.com site (where personas are submitted) to merge with their add-on management site.  Meanwhile, I could upload the header and footer images I used here.

This differs from my earlier screenshot in that it places the text to the right of the header in all cases.

Header at Full-size (3000 x 200 pixels, per Mozilla specifications for persona headers):

Custom 1280 x 85 pixel Header I use on my system:

http://www2.netdoor.com/~horus/PCLOS410_header_2_1280.jpg

Footer (3000 x 100, per Mozilla specs for persona footers.):

http://www2.netdoor.com/~horus/PCLOS410_footer.jpg

To use these, you need Personas Plus as an add-on to Firefox.

Later On,
D
