[SOLVED] No sound in flash-player-plugin.
« on: September 24, 2012, 08:01:44 AM »
I have no flash-player-plugin sound :'( in Firefox of pclinuxos-kde-2012.08+all updates.
Tested with this Youtube
Aalto Talk with Linus Torvalds
.
A complete uninstall > install of the package does not change this situation.
The  00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801JI (ICH10 Family) HD Audio Controller of the on-board P5QLD PRO with the snd_hda_intel(ALSA) driver is used.
In configuration center 'PulseAudio enabled' and 'Use Clitch-Free mode' are marked.
In KMix (HDA Intel) Master/Front/Surround/Center/LFE/PCM/CD/Side are all at maximum.
With the same hardware and settings it's no problem in Mageia2.
Anybody any idea how to solve this problem ???

Thanks.
To begin with, there was no ~/.asoundrc file present
The solution Without PA enabled and a unmarked 'PulseAudio enabled' in PCC did bring the sound back.
Before I made my initial report I did a "sound adobe flash" search in this forum and didn't find your post.
And 'With PA enabled and working' and a marked 'PulseAudio enabled' in PCC  did not bring the sound back.
I guess this will be solved in the future for new installs ???

All I can say is that the three PCs I have used it on to date .....  with PulseAudio enabled .....  it worked.

Of course you would also need to check that the correct device was being used and that the volumes were correct, using PulseAudio Volume Control.

At least you have sound  ;)

Test result from a second PC.
The Asrock P5B-DE has sound with both PulseAudio enabled and disabled settings with it's onboard 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 02) device.
While the Asus P5QLD PRO only has sound it with the PulseAudio disabled setting.

You need to start you own thread to get attention from helpers .....  after you have checked the posts about similar problems to see if any will help.

You should post the results of the fixes you tried so others won't be wasting time making suggestions of things you have already done.
