It would appear that my previous log was not right after a crash.  This one is and i DO see a fatal error.  Any idea what it means?

The error is logged but not enough info to give clues.

I suspect the only solution is to use a different version of something.

What kernel are you using? try a different one, either the most recent if you arent using the most recent or an earlier version if you are using a most recent one.

If there is an updated version of the nvidia driver,you could make a package request for it to get updated.

Does this card do 3D acceleration? If it does not or if you do not use the capability,you can try the "nouveau" driver to see if it works acceptably for you.

Switching to the nouveau xorg driver appears to fix everything.  Thanks for the suggestion.  Perhaps this will help others with this graphics card as well.
