repository for Bibletime
« on: September 22, 2012, 05:36:37 PM »
I did a search for Bibletime in Synaptic but it didn't show up. Is there a particular repository that I need to activate in Phoenix 2012 32 bit?

Thanks,
houndhen

It's in the "updates" section of the 32 bit repository and in the normal "x86_64" section of the 64 bit repository. Check "Settings" -> "Repositories" in Synaptic and if the relevant section is missing add it to the "Sections" line of the mirror you are using.

Bibletime 2.9.1 is in Synaptic in  Graphical desktop/KDE4 section.

kde is needed in the section line in  synaptic, see at here: http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,108162.0.html

We are talking about different kinds of sections. You are talking about the categories you see when you click "Sections" in the left panel; I'm talking about the sections specified for the repository mirror you are using - they may be shown as "Component" in the main panel. But you must have the right Section/Component in the "Sections" line of your repo before Synaptic can find the program.

OK, I have it installed and it is in the menu at 'more applications', 'education', but nothing happens when I click on it. I also did 'run application' and typed in bibletime but still nothing happens (program didn't run). I also typed in BibleTime with no results.
Thanks,

If you run it from cli the command is case-sensitive.
You can view the command if you right-click / edit your menu & navigate to the BibleTime entry.
edit: I just noticed you are running phoenix. I forget how you access the menu commands.  :-[

It would be better to use Xiphos which is the Sword front-end for Gnome, Bibletime (another front-end for Sword) may need dependencies from KDE.

There was a special issue of the PCLOS magazine that dealt with XFCE & LXDE, it might have that info.

Edited to add: November 2010 issue
