To the Group:
I honestly did not mean to open up a whole can of worms where people might take offense at other people for what they had written. I merely wanted to suggest that Touchpad Solution be made a default in the ISO and that perhaps Touchpad Toggle be made optional.
The reasons for my suggestion are as follows: Until I done a considerable amount of research, I did not know that the program Touchpad Solution was in the repository. Until I downloaded it and tried the various options, I was unable to have the touchpad on my notebook computer respond to taps.
As Touchpad Toggle was a default program, I initially thought that that had something to do with enabling touchpad tapping. As I said earlier, when I enabled it, the whole computer froze and I had to do a complete re-installation.
Please take note that I am an older computer user; when I was in school, we had never even heard of computers except in some esoteric "what will be in the future" articles in newspapers and magazines. Our big technology was transistor radios (and the comparisons between 6-transistor vs. 8-transistor reception). I can even remember before we had television (we got our first set, a Capehart, in 1950) and all us kids listened to shows on the radio.
In addition, during my long working career, I never had the opportunity to take any computer course whatsoever; I am completely self-taught. Taking a computer course for "seniors" today would be of no use to me as they would all focus on Microsoft Windows (in which I have no interest).
So I can use the Linux programs in which I am interested (and even one Windows program I like under Wine) but I cannot create or modify anything. (I am constantly amazed at the fantastic computer intelligence shown by people "in the know" such as many members here.) I have to be shown or told how to do things. I am able to follow explicit directions (for example, entering commands into the Terminal, etc.). This is one of the reasons I like online forums, and this one in particular. I can almost always find "the answer." If not, I can always ask my question.
And I have never lost my curiosity - that's why I got "into" GNU/Linux in the first place (and found these OSes to be far superior to Windows and Mac) and how I "found" PCLinuxOS.
But that's enough about me.
I would hope that people would consider my request, take my experience (or lack thereof) into account, and "vote" (for want of a better term) as to whether or not they would like to see Touchpad Solution be made a default program within the PCLinuxOS ISOs. As indicated above, I personally would have no idea as to how to do this.
But if a fair number of people would like to see this program as a default, and they so indicate here, perhaps the administrators could take this into account and effect that change.
Thank you for reading this and thank you for your vote (pro or con).
