Okay we will give it a try, but we need your output from dmesg, when you have tried an touchpad fix.

Try
Code: [Select]
dmesg | grep "input"
And if one of the solutions fixed your problem tell us the number of the solution, please.

Thank you to help us.

Just a thought, but synaptiks (which is in the repo) serves both purposes, and will automatically switch the touchpad off when you plug in a mouse.

And does it all quietly in the background.  It adds a Touchpad entry to Configure Your Desktop.

Synaptiks was unable to enable tap-to-click in the log-in page KDM for my Samsung notebook with Elantech touchpad. Touchpad solutions did the trick for me.
Packaging well will cure headaches of many :) But learning to package will cause headaches in many :(

Glad you found a solution.  synaptiks does what I want, which is mostly automatic switching.

dmesg | grep input

input: HDA ATI SB Headphone as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.2/sound/card1/input10

Since I had Elantech touchpad, I tried Option 4 straightaway and it worked for me.

I have a Lenovo G550 and tried very hard last year to do the solutions by hand (we published an article in the magazine about it) but I never could get my touchpad to work correctly...

However, the other night, I read this post and installed touchpad-solutions (I already have touchpad toggle for when I need an exterior mouse).  Solution number 5 worked for me and now my touchpad works correctly again.

I think including touchpad-solutions in the live cd is a good idea.

Thanks!      ;D ;D ;D

hi meemaw,

yes touchpad-solutions is a good way but we try to develop something to do an automatic detection and setting of the correct configuration.
so would you also like to share your dmesg output :)
