Salvador Dali now works for Apple?

If I want to know what a place looks like, I want a genuine satellite photograph, not an computer-generated drawing, even a competent one, which these are not.

Wow T6 , you really put some time into this.

There is a 5th dimension, beyond that which is known to man.It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity, between science& superstition,& it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call PCLINUXOS!

Apparently iOS6 maps designated a farm here as an airport/airfield .....  official complaints to Apple due to the possibility of endangering life if some small aircraft thinks they are approaching an airfield    :D

I would hope no small aircraft would navigate by any kind of consumer map You need official charts for that kind of thing.

just found this

"Apple Maps is the company’s biggest gaffe, so much so that an entire Tumblr blog is devoted to its failures. While US data is for the most part acceptable, overseas the application’s issues make it unusable in places. At least one politician is already speaking out on the issue already, calling Apple maps “dangerously misleading” after the app labeled a 35-acre farm as an airport. “I have arranged that Apple be informed of the error and requested that it be urgently corrected,” Ireland’s Justice Minister Alan Shatter was quoted as saying in a statement Thursday. Ouch.

That’s not the only problem. Apple’s Flyover — which when it works is a thing of beauty — has flattened the Statue of Liberty. Portions of cities look like the aftermath of the Zombie Apocalypse. Spelling errors and mislabeling everywhere. Or how about Chicago skyscrapers labeled as gas stations? It’s almost unreal for a company that until recently prided itself on perfection. In all honesty, it feels like Apple has gone ahead and pushed an early beta version of Maps to millions of users."

a bigger collection of errors

http://theamazingios6maps.tumblr.com/

i still remember the first errors of google maps, it wasn't pretty but it was usable, if they decided to replace it, the minimum they could make was remove parts hard to do like 3d and keep a basic map but they did something so bad that it is embarrassing to see

someone mentioned that apple was just steve jobs,

his hard character converted into a company, now that he is not here directing the company, things are falling apart, like it wasn't a good company, only his strong will and hard personality supported by a group without a north different than sell, no matter what you sell, just sell

Why don't they steal Google maps and say that they developed it first and had a patent and fight it for years in court. ITs a win win for them. They have maps and they have time. ::) ::) ::)

they can't go thermonuclear against android, they would like but they can

probably this is the reason to have those horrible maps poorly "developed", they want to separate from android apps or google refused to feed those trolls anymore

how to solve the problem?  hire ex google maps workers

"Unless you've been living under a rock this past week, you've probably heard by now that Apple's new Maps application is a bit of a failure. Since its release, the iOS 6 app has been taking heavy fire from all directions of the blogosphere, and even the real world as well. From the London Underground, to a number of online accounts, and competitors like Motorola, its been a rough week for Apple.

Now, the company is desperately trying to make things right, so much so that it is hoping to hire as many ex-Google Maps developers as possible. According to a source with connections from both teams, Apple is aggressively trying to recruit software engineers that previously worked on the Google Maps application."

Regardless the apologies the question remains ......

how could such a broken application have been included in the first place?

I understand that if you just go to google maps with it, goggle will offer to install on your iOS6 and then you'll have the real thing.

i think that someone yelled very loud ordering for the tool to be ready and someone else said, ok, it is ready  ;D

they expected from their clients more patience while app improved over time instead of using google or buying a company with a ready to use solution, someone that already suffered those growing pains but apple feeling superpowerful decided to demonstrate that they can do things alone better and they can't, no one is a island this days

they wanted a big surprise with iphone 5 but in return, their fans are getting a more obvious crap than usual

in the meantime they mentioned that you can use google maps on the html version on the web browser or just end in the bottom of lake
