Can't run livecd or usb (kde, lxde) on most machines anymore.
« on: September 25, 2012, 10:24:48 AM »
Don't know if it is kde4 or recent graphics hardware but I can't seemto boot and run live cd to demo pclinuxos anymore.

Example machine at hand: Emachine laptop with 2G memory, 2.2Ghz celeron 1k cache, intel cantigia graphics, 64M.

usb or live cd of lxde and kde 2012 boots for quite awhile then hangs on either total black screen, or login.

If using XFdrake, it says to reboot.
tried vesadev, safeboot, etc.

thanks.

Obviously, rebooting is pointless after setting up a livecd, so it's one of the cases where you have to ignore that advice and hope a log-out, log-in sequence will do the job. In a text terminal, restarting the dm service is probably the thing to try.

Thanks, btw, on the sample machine I have here, in this case, I just discovered that it is indeed booting ok to PCLinuxOS splash screen, but the backlight LEDs are off. I'll post this separately.
