Amarok's inbuilt Equilizer not working
« on: September 19, 2012, 09:12:07 PM »
Is anyone using Amaroks inbuilt equalizer? Mine is not working, actually when I manually change presets I have no sound at all, and I have to restart Amarok to get sound again. Is that related to the phonon backend? I use as suggested Gstreamer.

regards,
nixus

Well, I stop using Amarok because it's a mess, every time it indexes my music my computer freezes until it ends, sometimes it recovers sometimes not; other times it just stop responding and if you close it the icon disappears but it keeps working. All this is after the KDE 4.8 upgrade.

I'm using Clementine and Musique, this last one is a great player that works when I didn't have sound in Clementine or the browser but that is story for another thread
I shall pass this way but once;
any good therefore that I can do,
or any kindness that I can show
let me not defer nor neglect it,
for I shall not pass this way again.

Thanks,

Musique looks interesting, but unfortunately not in the repos or have I overlooked it?

It's there  ;)

.......  in testing  section as yet ...

"Musique will connect to the Last.fm web services and pass artist names and album titles in order to fetch cover art, biographies and much more. If you have privacy concerns about this you can quite now."

I find it rather strange that there is no user means to turn off internet access for this application.

For that reason ......  bye, bye ...  I won't even try it.

Just tested Amarok for you  nixus and I can't duplicate

I created my own equalizer settings and saved each one and all work as expected without a restart being necessary.

I'm also using Gstreamer/Phonon backend

Edit: just a thought - with Amarok closed - I wonder if moving your Amarok folder somewhere safe and then start Amarok again which will recreate another Amarok folder. The folder is in /home/yourname/.kde4/share/apps/amarok

Thanks menotu.

I might try what you have suggested. Meanwhile I found out that I can change presets when I pause the song. For what ever reason, this is not working while the song is being played back.

Anyway, thanks for your input,
