digiKam advanced slideshow not working correctly
« on: September 19, 2012, 04:30:53 AM »
I've used digiKam for a looooooong time and I've never had a single problem with the advanced slideshow until now. If I check Use OpenGL slideshow transitions, the slideshow starts but doesn't display anything other than a completely blank screen. If I un-check it, the slideshow works as expected. I've seen a lot of posts in here regarding OpenGL problems but nothing relating to digiKam. Does anyone have a solution please.

Haven't looked at that in a while...

In my setup, "Advanced Slideshow..." is greyed out. ???

I was just thinking...at the moment, I'm running two external monitors.  Later, when it's just the laptop LCD, I'll try again see what happens.  I'm also running KDE effects...not sure what impact that might have...

Same problem here. Moreover, if I deselect OpenGL Digikam crashes as soon as I start the slideshow (segmentation fault).

In my case, digiKam doesn't even display a blank screen. Screen stays in Advanced Slideshow settings but if I move my cursor on the upper left or right edge of the screen, I can see the slideshow controls...

I get some errors when launching digiKam from terminal:

It's looking like it could be an nVidia related problem  :-\

I have an ATI graphics card and I have the same problem... So, it's not only nVidia :)

I do not use digiKam, but I have a similar problem.
If I run systemsettings in the console, and then open the Desktop Effects and navigate through the tabs, at the end of the console output I get is:

Code: [Select]
libEGL warning: DRI2: failed to find _glapi_get_proc_address
libEGL warning: GLX: failed to load GLX
libEGL warning: unable to load st_GL.so

I am inclined to believe this is the cause of some problems in my system.

Part of the output of my lspci:

Code: [Select]
00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family DRAM Controller (rev 09)
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09)
00:16.0 Communication controller: Intel Corporation 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family MEI Controller #1 (rev 04)
00:1a.0 USB controller: Intel Corporation 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family USB Enhanced Host Controller #2 (rev 04)
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 04)
00:1c.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family PCI Express Root Port 1 (rev b4)
00:1c.2 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family PCI Express Root Port 3 (rev b4)
00:1c.3 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family PCI Express Root Port 4 (rev b4)

If this is not difficult, you can also check it out. I do not think that this problem exists only in my system.
It must somehow decide...

I traced the libEGL and st_GL.so to libmesaegl1, looks like it's a mesa problem.
