I never followed up on this.

I have made the dish three times since the post. Tonight I thought to take a pic. ;)

My offering, Shrimp And Cheese Grits with Endue Sausage and sautéed Green Onion.  ;D

That looks good, Rudge!

Thanks Neal. It's tasty but I'm tweaking it's appearance.

All that white, needs some contrast I think. I'll think of something.   ???

Your green onions are bunched up. Spread them out a bit and add more. ;)
Are second helpings available? ;D

I'm thinking as an alternative, instead of grits and whatever, try
the old cream of broccoli soup trick.   Heat.   Pour it over some chopped
cooked potatoes, lightly boiled shrimp on top.    Voila, a casserole.

A teaspoon of chopped celery or a tablespoon of chopped green
beans sometimes for variety.

Neal. Excellent idea. I think I will also use a dark bowl. Thanks. ;)

Ferdes Fides, how does one make "cream of broccoli soup"? Are you talking about the version that comes in a can?

I know lots of shortcuts for quick and tasty meals but the cooking that I do is "Made from scratch for real" as possible.

You can make Chicken Noodle Soup by pouring it out of a can and heating it in the microwave.

Trust me, you haven't had Chicken Noodle Soup until you start with a chicken.  ;) ;D ;D

Yes it's from the can...fancy gravy for a casserole.   Cream of something soup
is good sometimes for a casserole if you can create what matches up with the
other ingredients.

I used to make big batches of rice and cook beef (with soy sauce), chicken
(with sweet and sour sauce), pork (with vegetable broth), and slice everything
and mix it up and put it in the freeze, in tupperware containers, to take to work
and heat up microwave style, or just have a supply at home for a quick fancy
dinner.

With shrimp, a little bit of oyster sauce or cantonese vegetables mixed with the
rice beforehand should be good.

Didn't have to cook for a week then.

Shrimp and Grits...I'd go very hot with a small omelet  !

Merry Christmas,

FF

I didn't want to start a new thread but I wanted to show my final plating results for Shrimp And Grits. ;)

Thanks for the tips Neal.  ;)

The angle makes it look like there are more onions in one bowl but trust me, the same amount of everything is in both.

Thanks guys. I thought the green bowls would do the onions proud.

p.s. I saute the onion in bacon fat ;)

Chicken Pot Pie looks great in these bowls too. ;)

I picked up 4 of them at "Sur La Table" for about $12.00 each.
