Task bar mess ups?

In the past, the taskbar at the bottom of the screen would show each time I would run Firefox, KTorrent and etc.

Now it seems it doesn't want to show it. Everytime I close Firefox I have to open a NEW WINDOW from the PC button. What is up?

When I USED to click on Firefox, KTorrent and etc, a small icon would appear in the taskbar at the bottom of the screen and bounce in and out showing it was loading. That's gone and I would love to have it back PLEASE.

Is there a way to fix this folks? I know I've been gone a long time, but this one has thrown me for a loop. I'm not figuring this out at all.

I think you need smooth tasks widget.
Right click desktop -unlock widgets-
Click the cashew on the taskbar, click add widgets
In the search box start typing smooth tasks
Drag smooth task to the empty spot on your task bar.
Should do it.

YEEEEHAW! That did it! thanks so much!!! Now I can open those when they're down in the taskbar without opening other areas using the PC button.
