Run application with command without using terminal
« on: September 19, 2012, 05:38:18 PM »
In order to get skype to run properly, i need to run a command in terminal "export XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1 && skype"  and it works fine.  I want to be able to click on a skype icon and have it run that command in the background instead of having to open a terminal and copy/paste the command every time.  I feel like there is an easy way to do this, but i'm too much of a noob to figure it out.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

Are you running KDE? If so, right-click the K-menu (PC-menu) icon, click "Edit Applications...", navigate to "Skype" (under "Internet") and edit the "Command" line.

(You could also edit the the file /home/<yourname>/.local/share/applications/skype.desktop directly - or if you haven't got one /usr/share/applications/skype.desktop.)
