boot hangs with SD in slot - OK in USB card reader
« on: September 13, 2012, 09:20:47 PM »
pclos 2012.08 kde created with PCLOS USB Live creator on to  2 gb SD card hangs on Toshiba NB205 when used in netbook SD card slot.  There is no verbose boot just the progress bar reaches all white then hangs.  .iso md5sum checks out OK.

Booting with  same SD card in a portable USB card reader works fine, so it must be the card reader right? pclos 2012.02 kde  on  same make of 2 gb SD card in netbook SD slot boots fine on same laptop.

Any ideas?

thanks

It is possible when you can see nothing that the graphic for the keyboard selection is present and not displayed .....  if this is the case then hitting Enter at that stage should allow the boot to continue.

You might consider creating a special boot stanza on the SD card so you can test different options.
edit the file  /boot/grub/menu.lst  on the SD card.

Make a copy of the boot stanza and change the 'title' of the copy.
Then delete the "quiet" & "splash=silent" boot options from that boot stanza.
Try booting from the new boot stanza option.

You might see where it is stalling.

Sorry, hung up with transportation issues. Will give it a go and post back when time permits.

Thanks
