PCLinuxOS - disqualified from Favorite Distro Summer '12 at Tuxmachines

Susan is a member here and has been for many years. (Just because she rarely posts doesn't mean she doesn't read.) She has been a friend to this distro over the years.     

Now for a bit of self-honesty --- how many of you fudged the poll by clearing your cookies and voting again? I'm not saying that everyone did that, but even just a few doing it poisons the whole thing.     

Susan sets her rules for the polls at tuxmachines. If she sets the rule against forum posting about the poll, we should not blame her when she gets upset at us for violating the rule. Lets take responsibility for our actions.

i didn't knew i could do that and my web browser is set to clear cookies when i close it

and if i knew, i wouldn't do it, what would be the point of that

to avoid that, the site should ask for a email or a verification/login to facebook then

even worse, if she knows the forum she should know that we didn't do anything to bias the poll, why did she disqualified pclinux?

don't do polls, it is stupid if you limit the options, linux is about options and a poll without much options about linux distros should not exist

She had the option of nullifying the results of the poll. But to nullify the results of just one distro? Doesn't make any sense. I have no hard feelings about it, I am just not interested in her opinion, anymore.

Good for her. Except that posting a poll she should at least pretend that she is not a friend of any particular distro, this or any other one. She seems to have done a rather halfhearted job of that.

I'm not saying that everyone did that, but even just a few doing it poisons the whole thing.    

Not really. If tuxmachines.org makes it possible, that's what poisons the whole thing. And if it's possible, it's possible for everyone, so it just means that the poll won't measure the number of content users but the activity of the fans. (This is actually equally relevant. And if you disqualify one distro, that's still what the poll measures.)

Yes, but where did she set that rule? It would be a silly rule, but that's beside the point. More important is that I've looked for it and I still haven't seen it.

Granted, she sets her rules for the polls at tuxmachine just like you said. But the only reason she disqualified PCLOS was because it won several times in a row. Sure, that is highly unlikely given the small user base of PCLOS. Right? But that same logic applies to every other distro save one... Ubuntu. So as long as no other distro wins she can rest assured no ones posting in forums. She has no way of knowing what the other distros post on their forums.

The fact that PCLOS (despite having such a small user base) can rally a win over the others says a great deal about it.

She might as well drop the polls and just post visitor OS stats. I have little doubt visitor stats would mirror her ideal poll results she seems to be looking to call "fair".

Only one vote for an unique IP, you can vote from work and home, also can other distro users.
Evenso, you can like Romnot or Bama, but if you don't vote it makes no sense.
We PCLos users want (or not) to vote, if other distro users don't we win

In my opinion Susan is a very good Linux advocate, after disqualifying PClos we have our famous 5 minutes. live go's on Everyone has the right on his/her opinion, Susan is human.

Did any of us decide to run PCLinuxOS because of any poll? No! Who cares about some dumb poll anyway, I know I don't. Life is too short to get upset about stuff like this.

Truth now. Am I the only one who is currently reviewing the thousands of names on the member list to find her?  
Just kidding I remember her. I also have seen her mentioned in the PCLinuxOS world. When she does not say all good things in public about her distro that forum unleashes a wrath that we can never hope to duplicate. Susan is ok and we will not always agree.
