KMail not working in KDE 2012-08

When trying to open KMail a message appears "failed to fetch resource collection". On clicking OK KMail shuts down. There are several postings on the forum regarding this issue but no one seems to have solved it. Anyone know of a solution?

KMail 2 as seen in 4.8.3 is not ready to be used. It's very buggy, lacks of some features and it's slooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow.

That's because it has been rewritten to use akonadi framework for storing and fetching mails. It's new mail client.

Needless to say don't bother to run it right now.

Not sure if this will help but you could try this

Wiith KMail/Kontact closed, make sure the Akonadi server is running (you can check it by running akonaditray or by going to Config Your Desktop > Workspace Appearance and Behavior > Akonadi Configuration)  and check on the Akonadi Server Configuration tab

After that switch to the other tab Akonadi Resources Configuration

and select Add to add a mail directory.

After that's done try restarting KMail/Kontact

            Thanks for the advice but don't know the location of the directory to add!

It's in ~/.kde4/share/apps/kmail/mail
