[SOLVED] No updates available in Synaptic???
« on: September 05, 2012, 07:39:37 PM »
Hi All,
I haven't updated my system in a few weeks (not months) and yesterday noticed that the latest and greatest version of PCLinuxOS was released.

Well I started Synaptic, reloaded as per usual, then clicked on Mark All Upgrades and nothing...
I am using the http://mirror.cpsc.ucalgary.ca/mirror/pclinuxos/pclinuxos/apt/ repository.

Did I miss something, has this repository simply not updated yet?

If so could someone please point me in the right direction or thread (I did a quick look in Software but didn't see this as a new~ish  issue).

As always I am very appreciative on any help you may provide.

Doesn't look as though that repo is up to date, try another one.  ;)

old kde4 section with kde 4.6.5 section has not been updated in a couple months i think

I thought the KDE 4.6.5 had been removed except for the SPRMS.

As far as I can see all the rest has been removed

base        RPMS.main     RPMS.testing   RPMS.xfce4   SRPMS.kde4     SRPMS.special  SRPMS.xfce4
RPMS.games  RPMS.nonfree  RPMS.unstable  SRPMS.games  SRPMS.main     SRPMS.testing
RPMS.kde    RPMS.special  RPMS.updates   SRPMS.kde    SRPMS.nonfree  SRPMS.updates

:D and which version is that ?

The KDE 4.6.5 Update to KDE 4.8.3 was a little awkward.

There's Threads in  "PCLinuxOS General News and Announcements", explaining about the New KDE PCLinuxOS releases; plus all over the Forum.

Synaptic repo change seems best bet if your updating from a KDE version, of which there are three; MiniMe, KDE, and Full Monty, put simply.

*PCLOS 3.2.18-pclos2 - MiniMe 2013.x - KDE 4.10.1 - Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz - 1GiB DIMM DDR 533 MHz RAM  = SHABANG ! ;) *Software Updates

It seems like ALL EDU repos in the USA AND Canada are no longer reliable.

There are still repos in this list that are not up-to-date

Thanks everyone!
I am in the middle of doing a clean instal (it helps when you're hd is already partitioned for at least 10 distro's).

I only hope that Py-Cashew works with this latest version.

I'll keep you posted.

Py-Cashew works great!

I've got the new install all set up to my liking.

I'm currently experiencing an issue with remote desktop but will try again in the morning and start a new thread if still unresolved.

The only other issue is an old one, for some reason it will not see my mutlifunction Samsung SCX 4521F as a scanner, it prints great but no scanning.
Again if need be I will open a new thread.

Thank you to everyone who made this new and improved version so great!
