Enabling PDF preview in Dolphin
« on: September 13, 2012, 01:52:58 PM »
If you want to have previews of PDF files in Dolphin (useful for E-books collections), follow these simple steps:

1. Open Synaptic Package Manager.
2. Search for and install kde-graphics-thumbnailers.
3. Open Dolphin file manager.
4. Go to Settings -> Configure Dolphin -> General -> Previews and enable "Show previews for Postscript, PDF and DVI files"
(Note: you may need to edit the limit of file size under "Do not display previews for..." if you have large PDF files)
5. Restart Dolphin.
6. Select "Preview" from the Dolphin toolbar for the folder containing your PDF files.
For the whole world, you are someone.
For someone, you are the whole world.

In addition to agmg good advice, further PDF options in Dolphin is to go to

Settings > Configure Dolphin > Services > Download New Services and filter by adding pdf in the search box - and choose any extensions that look useful.

i.e. the pdf2image extension can create PDFs by right clicking on one or more images by going to  Actions and

Convert image(s) to separate  PDF
Convert image(s) to single  PDF
