Sopcast
« on: September 02, 2012, 02:37:35 PM »
The football season has started so we need Sopcast .....to watch soccer from Russia in hidef when the match is being played 50 miles away !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

OK , rant over.

Went through the usual problems with sopcast after installing PClos on a new laptop. So please remember:

Install libstdc++5 BEFORE installing qsopcast and EVEN IF libstdc++6 is already installed

Part1 I documented from last time part 2 was a recent revelation.  Also I recommend installing VLC since it has better control of video shape (distorted wide screen channels) colours and sound.

Also note the following config settings

Player (mps , rm and wmv) : vlc
Channel URL : http://www.sopcast.com/gchlxml
Sopcast URL header : sop://
Record directory : /home/<name>/Videos/Sopcast (ensure its created, I prefer this to /home/<name>/SOPCAST)

happy soccer season and here's hoping the Terriers do well

I got this output when I installed it .....

Quote
While installing package gsopcast-0.4.0-3pclos2010:

--2012-09-02 22:23:05--  http://www.sopcast.references.tv/d2/sp-auth.tgz
Resolving www.sopcast.references.tv (www.sopcast.references.tv)... failed: Connection timed out.
wget: unable to resolve host address ‘www.sopcast.references.tv’
tar (child): sp-auth.tgz: Cannot open: No such file or directory
tar (child): Error is not recoverable: exiting now
tar: Child returned status 2
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now
gsopcast: no process found
cp: cannot stat `sp-auth/sp-sc-auth': No such file or directory
ln: failed to create symbolic link `/usr/bin/sp-sc': File exists

Seems it failed to get something it requires from  www.sopcast.references.tv ......  is this fatal?

I sent an update to the repos yesterday which corrects the sp-auth address. Seems they had changed it.
