Posting this for the benefit of anyone else doing a clean install and having difficulty with this and perhaps other printer installs.  After deciding it was time for a clean install on this computer used mainly to print many sheets of fliers on the venerable Canon i850 which PCLOS has supported well for several years, this time it would not install giving the above error message on the last step. Google and searching this forum  was not much help.  The solution came via using CUPS web admin site. Log on to http://localhost:631/admin and add printer. It ask for local logon. I used root and my root password. Don't know if that was required but worked to let me in.  After searching it found my Canon i850 in two instances.  One had a url of cnj_usb:dev/usb/lp0. That was the one and only url found when installing via PCC.  A second instance in the CUPS printer options had a url of usb://Canon/i850.  Using this let me access printer and print test page but the install did not stick till I went back to PCC and used the correct usb://Canon/i850 url there.

This may be obvious to many of you but to me it was a brick wall costing a couple of hours.  This will likely be fixed in some future update but add this to the list of why one gets the above error message.
