Hello Everyone,
I’m trying to install the 2011.9 Full Monty KDE desktop on my laptop computer, but I’m having a problem with my laptop hanging during the installation from the live DVD. The Full Monty image download and resulting DVD have the proper Md5sum. I currently have Fedora 17 (64 bit) with Cinnamon 1.4 desktop installed on my system; this is the only OS on my system. My laptop is an Asus A53E-AS31 with Intel Core 3i 2350M processor, 4 GB of ram, and a 750 hard disc. My objective is to replace Fedora 17 with Full Monty.
Here are the three scenarios when I try to run or install from the live DVD:
1 – Doing a cold boot from the live DVD and selecting the ‘install on the hard disc’ option on the DVD menu. The installation proceeds through the initial ‘speedometer’ and the backlit screen goes blank and it’s all over. No activity at all, no cursor, no hard disc activity.
2 – Trying to run in ‘Safe Mode’ from the live DVD; the installation gets to the ‘NX Server’ installation and hangs. This time there is a blinking cursor and I do get a line feed when I press the ‘Enter’ key.
3 – Trying to run in the ‘Normal Mode’ from the DVD; it ends up at the same place as number one.
The odd thing is in these three attempts, nothing was done to my hard disc, I can still boot to my Fedora 17 OS.
Sorry for the long post and thanks for taking the time to read it.
