Have checked, the Shockwave version is correct. I have pruned all the Java 1.5.xx files. They were installed from way back, and if they were not needed, I would have thought
that the Synaptic upgrade would have removed them Anyway, they're de-installed now. It looks like the jre 7U7 is the file that Firefox wants, and now has.
To answer the sound questions: I am not using PulseAudio. Every time I tried to use P/A, I wound up with no sound and a very difficult time to get it back. Using Alsa.
I am using the heanet repo, and have been for quite some time now. I have two sound detectors in the system. Intel, on the MOBO, and NVidia on a GeForce 502 board, that
has HDMI output. This HDMI works in XP fine, but has never made a peep in Linux. I have had several threads here and elsewhere to try and make it work, but it never has.
The mobo sound works on Internet radio --KSEY, in Seymore, TX, for classic-style Country music plays thru RealPlayer into my local Logitech sound system. Up until the
Java problem and me trying to solve it, YouTube played locally also, but now it doesn't play anywhere from PCLOS on this machine.
