Bluetooth software Issues (solved)
« on: September 04, 2012, 04:36:51 AM »
Hello.

I downloaded the pclinuxos-kde-2012.08.iso and installed it, formatting the root partition and deleting all the dot files in the home in the process. I lost nothing by doing that, that is why I did not upgrade.

However, I noticed that bluetooth is no longer working. Initially I thought it was the hardware failing so I made a live usb of the previous pclinuxos version (pclinuxos-kde-2012.02.iso) and tested bluetooth. It worked fine. So I suspect the issue is to do with the software, hence this post.

rfkill unblock all and rfkill list command gives the following;

Code: [Select]
bash-4.1$ rfkill list
0: acer-wireless: Wireless LAN
        Soft blocked: no
        Hard blocked: no
1: acer-bluetooth: Bluetooth
        Soft blocked: no
        Hard blocked: no
2: phy0: Wireless LAN
        Soft blocked: no
        Hard blocked: no
3: hci0: Bluetooth
        Soft blocked: no
        Hard blocked: no

1. Yet the clicking the 'Bluetooth Manager' from the menu brings no joy,
2. 'Configure KDE Bluetooth Integration' in the Configure Your Desktop shows no bluetooth adapters found.
3. Dolphin shows no bluetooth entry in the panel.

I will appreciate help to get it working. So that I can share files.

You may be missing some software with the new install ......  did you check Bluetooth with the ISO you installed from?
Was it working?

I have the following installed ....  I realise some would not be necessary but listed them for completeness ....

bluedevil
blueman
bluez
bluez-alsa
bluez-firmware
bluez-pin
gnome-bluetooth
obexd
obex-data-server
pulseaudio-module-bluetooth
libbluedevil1
libbluez3
libbtcl6

Hello  Just18.

After downloading it I simply made a liveusb using Unetbootin and installed it without much ado.

Anyway, from the list these are not installed:
1. gnome-bluetooth and
2. pulseaudio-module-bluetooth.

But one is not even present in synaptic;  libbtcl6 (I checked thrice  :-[)

I forgot to add that I just updated yesterday.

You don't need either of 1 or 2.      libbtcl6 is related to 1.

I suggest you try the 2.6.38  kernel to see if it is some regression on your device with the new kernel (3.2.18). I am using 3.2.18 here without BT problems.

It worked.

I installed kernel 2.6.38.8-pclos3. It works beautifully.

Now I cannot switch it off, lol. fn+f3 should switch it on and off at will, but now no joy. Funny thing.

Let me see if another kernel will work.
