How to install a printer driver?
« on: August 27, 2012, 11:52:43 AM »
Someone sent this printer driver for my Canon mx439 printer:

cnijfilter-mx430series-3.70-1-deb.tar.gz

But how (and where) can I install it?

most of the drivers are in rpm form, not in tar.gz

where did you found that file?

wasn't there a manual on the website you found it?

most tar.gz needs to be unpackaged and follow some steps to compile it and then copy it to the right place, something really complex for just a printer

tar.gz is not the problem, .deb is. You can find .rpm here. More info. can be found here
