Synaptic lists these as good possibilities for making Gtk applications look more like KDE ones.

  • 1. gtk-kde4
  • 2. gtk-oxygen-molecule
  • 3. oxygen-gtk

As I did not have any idea which is the way to go here, I just had both 1 and 3 installed on my PCLinuxOS KDE. Now today I just came across gtk-oxygen-molecule which wants to remove 1 & 3.

What works for you people?

Currently with the 1 & 3 combination, my Gtk application windows do not seem to follow KDE font choices.

Just went ahead with installing gtk-oxygen-molecule. Presently it is looking good. Now I see that Synaptic is honoring the font settings from KDE.

Personally I use gtk-kde4 with oxygen-gtk. I also have qtcurve-gtk2. Works and looks great (although gtk-kde4 appears under "Lost & Found" section in settings). Advised by this thread:

That's not happening here  :(

When I did a fresh install of 2012.08, gtk-oxygen-molecule was installed by default and I'm having problems which I never had with =< 2012.02

I theme my "very few" GTK apps with LXAppearance.

I started this thread more than a year and a half ago:

http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,85893.15.html

The solution I needed came in reply number 18 by knome, but even before that I got good advice from many people.

The diversity of available applications in the wide world for Linux and its endless customization capability probably means the same symptom may be produced by a wide variety of causes and the solutions are also likely to be various too.
We will all have to go through each available solution and check what works for our case.

Thanks but after no end of fiddling around, I cannot get GTK integration to work properly. The fact of the matter is, that with 2012.02 and many of its predecessors (can't remember how far back), GTK integration worked out of the box and required no fiddling around whatsoever.
