no "poster" option when printing
« on: August 25, 2012, 08:00:51 AM »
Hi

I want to print a poster (made of multiple pages) from a pdf. There used to be an option for that in the kde printing dialogue.

Research shows that supposedly if the program "poster" is in the system path (it is: it's in /usr/bin) then the poster tab should show up when printing,

The file I want to print is a pdf not a raster file so solutions that involve photoprint and the like won't do.

Also, since this is a template for an electric guitar is has to print to the correct size.

Anyone have a solution?

Thanks for reading!

I know you can do this easily with foxit pdf, but I don't have it installed at the moment.

You could try
Open your pdf in Libre Office Draw
My example is a A1 sheet of paper.
I have my printer set up for A4 size
When I go to print I set it to 'distribute on multiple sheets of paper'
In the example I have printed back to a PDF - that is the second screen shot of the pages.

might need a bit of tweaking but that is the general principle

The pdf killed Libre Office Draw (3.6).
I've only quickly checked it out before.
I saw no provision for "importing" so I "opened".
Thanks for the help.

Update:
I deleted 'poster'.
I downloaded the latest source code and compiled a , supposedly, latest KDE4-poster-print-friendly version of 'poster'. Reboot. No go.

Well.
The pdf loaded into LODraw. It printed a poster size printing at twelve pages! But, missing information. I mean, I'll have to see how to adjust the margins.

Thanks!
