AFAIC this issue is not solved. It's a workaround and we still need to put our heads together and trace the source. Why does it work for others but not PCC?

With the greatest respect, I beg to differ  :)

After having a nights sleep and coming back to this, I have now taken notice of what the NOTE says in the Launcher Matching Rules section of the configuration. Additionally, clicking on the More information link pops up a bit of technical info but it says nothing about how to actually implement a rule(s). Thanks to your discovery yesterday, we now have this working and I would dare to say that this is how things are supposed to work in this particular instance.

LOL ... geez, if you say so, Eddie. I am still curious at why the initial display to PCC is perl.  ;)

plasma-applet-icontasks installs okay from Synaptic but when I add it to the panel I get the dreaded red cross.
Hmmmmm, now that's interesting because it appears to be a modified version of the one provided in kde-plasma-addons. I'm assuming that it may overwrite (possibly destroy?) the existing applet. Methinks it's time to fire up my test box and have a play  ;D
