We have our own in-house apps, written by community members as well as our developers. Many of these are GUI frontends to cli apps. When they see a need for it, our scripters/coders step forward and create.
Some are full apps (not just GUI frontends).

PCLinuxOS dev and packaging team members are all active forum members and can be found answering questions as well as playing in the sandbox. :D

The Forum.  Definitely.

Time after time, challenge after challenge, this forum has always been there for me.  Because of this, I've been able to embrace Linux, especially PCLinuxOS.

While I'm not a top-notch programmer or Linux guru, I try to contribute in my own way.  One big way is to simply burn the ISO to disk and hand it out to as many people as possible.  Another way is installing PCLinuxOS on family nd friends' systems.

Either way, they'll have a friendly and safe harbor in this forum to get thme through the stormy times as they learn and use Linux.

EDIT -- And I'll add that Linux is much less stormy than Windows.  Nothing worse than trying to remove a virus.

Packages.

What is unique about our packages?

We have stuck with the traditional way of packaging where many distros have moved on to newer, more automated methods, like mockbuild. Our pkgutils-kde and pkgutils-thunar are scripts to assist our packagers in simplifying the tedious tasks. These scripts were contributions from our community members. So I doubt if other distros would use them.

The people involved in producing PClinuxOS, including the forum users, are the best..This quality makes it very unique among the others.  :)

Reporting  problems, bugs and broken packages!

Most distros have a bugtracker to report this.
Reporting on broken packages and (help)software sections works faster then reporting on a bugtracker (hopefully).

Question: is a bugtracker needed for PCLinuxOS?

My own experiences with other distros bugtrackers have not been good:
 - Difficult to use/navigate
 - Full of techno-babble
 - Slow responses (if any response at all)

That doesn't mean to say the same would apply to a PCLOS bugtracker  ;)
So, for now, my answer to your question has to be a resounding ..... NO

Why have a bugtracker when swift action is taken on bug reports posted in our forums?

A bug tracker is not a bad thing because it can be cross-referenced but indeed it is littered with techno babble which could easily scare away a casual user.

Bug trackers do have their advantage and disadvantages, and I think for PCLinuxOS we don't really need one unless we all have to do some serious rethinking and restructuring of what good we already have.
