First you need to make sure "widgets" are unlocked (right click the desktop, there's an option)

Then, if you look under that same menu, (by right clicking the desktop) There's a different option to "Add Panel / Default Panel".

If you had made any changes to the panel, you will have to make them again.

(This response assumes an up to date KDE desktop)  ;)

Good luck.

p.s. Keep your widgets locked!  ;) ;D ;D ;D

When KDE was updated I had a nice area of stacked icons next to the pager which I quite liked.  But I can't remember it's name and the default icons for open applications are much longer than I like in the bottom panel, but can't remember how to reset it.  PCLOS just works so well and is so stable I haven't had to tweak it much, so can't remember how. :-[ :-[ :-[

Does that "default" panel have "Smooth Tasks" by default? If not, that might be what you are looking for.?

I don't see it mentioned, and I do have smooth tasks installed.  I guess I have to uninstall and then reinstall since the reinstall option is greyed out.  What do you think?

No, I didn't mean, you have to "install" it, I meant you might have to "add it" to the Panel.

Unlock widgets/ right click the panel/ add widgets (look for "Smooth Tasks") ;)

Follow-up:  what does "Smooth Tasks" do? And where does one see the option to either use it or not?

Before you do anything rash, are you speaking of the quick launcher plasma widget? Here's mine for reference.

That's the one.  Is it a widget?

MCP

Thanks OP  I found it and now have it back.  I also got smooth tasks added and configured.  Everything now looks to be back as it was.
I think I'll take everyone's advise and lock my widgets.  ;D ;D ;D
