error after update to Kde 4.8.3 ( solved )
« on: August 20, 2012, 08:28:48 PM »
Before the update to KDE 4.8.3 I could play wma files from Audacious.. Now I cannot, which plugin or codex

am I missing causing this error? No decoder found for file:///home/desperado/Music/Jim-music/24-Honky%20Tonk%20Woman.wma.

pirate,

Does Audacious use the VLC backend? Check and make sure libvlc-pulse is installed.

Do you have audacious-codecs installed?

I think the Honky%20Tonk%20Woman.wma. ( Honky Tonk Woman ?? )  is a Windows Media Audio file

If the above codecs don't work you could try installing task-multimedia (This package will install most common core components for multimedia playback)
PCLinuxOS 32bit KDE 4.10.1; kernel-3.4.11-pclos1.bfs & 64bit 3.2.18bfs; NVidia GeForce 8400GS 1GB 310.19 driver

The wma files play from other players, but not from Audacious..

task-multimedia is installed as is the plugin and codex..

Solution I will convert the wma's to waves with Audacity Sound Editor..

Will sound better anyway.
