Still looking for a decent free calendar that I can either point at a specific folder (Dropbox) for the calendar file or one that will allow me to edit a Google calendar while off line and sync back up next time I connect.  I'm accepting recommendations.

Although i suspect the above refers to your Nook, i know that Thunderbird has Lightning which can then be synced with Google.

Have a great evening!  :)
Sunbird for Android would be fabulous!  Or even Thunderbird and Lightning...

cyanogenmod is great, but it doesn't work perfectly

some weeks ago i rooted a old lg phone to install android 2.3.7 because lg left it at 2.1

mostly all went well and phone got new air with the needed update(includding apps to sd)so is nice to change the original rom but some things doesn't work well like keyboard on screen, some apps doesn't load it but there is options so it is acceptable

if you are going to load cyanogenmod it is good to have all resources required like the original rom of your phone and the tools to go install that orignal rom on the phone(also a good microusb cable, it is common to read that cable failed in the middle of the update process killing the phone)

also know what buttons to press if your phone fails to load the new rom and can't boot(have a guide of the whole process is basically mandatory)

i did that a couple times while working and on my free time with phones form friends

of course that load a custom rom will void your warranty on basically all brands of phones(with very few exceptions) if you still had one but on certain cases it has benefits or is the only path to make a phone usable again, especially if your phone doesn't have a official update to android 2.3

something i like of astro file manager is the user interface, it is nice and simple but es file explorer has a integrated audio and image player so you don't have to use the default audio player to listen small audio files like ringtones, very useful because some audio players will empty the playlist and open that single file to play it, something very annoying

That's the beauty of the Nook and the N2A cards.  You make no changes to your existing software.  It's more like a dual boot situation.

Insert the N2A card, power up and you're running full blown Android off the N2A card.  Power down and select Reboot (or remove the N2A card) and you're right back where  you started.  If  you take it in for warranty work, just remove the N2A card, and they'll never know.

i stopped using opera for one reason, it doesn't let gif files work, from what i could investigate on another forum it is a feature  :-\

Seems to be limited to Nooks, as Nooks (Color and Tablet, at least) are set up to boot from the external card if it has a bootable image on it.  Probably not the case for the other devices, or there would be cards for them, as well.

A good list of apps, I don't see this so I'm listing them.

Sun Rise as an animated wallpaper, love it
Cronómetro if you need a stopwatch (I use it for the judo matches)
More Icons Free Widget.  You guessed it right, more icons in your screen
Free Sudoku. No explanation needed
Wi-Fi Matic (not Wifi Matic) on and off your wifi when there is a known access point near, helps you save money and power.

Edit. Oh and Crow ringtone   8)  no, not really  ;D

f-droid has GNUCash for Android.  Some might find it of use.

I finally found my calendar solution - sort of.  ISSync is a paid app that will sync the built-in calendar file with an external one, including any iCal format file, even one in Dropbox.  Works like a champ, and makes my desktop master calendar (in Sunbird) available to any calendar program on the device.  I keep my Sunbird calendar file in Dropbox, so it is available and up to date on any other computer I happen to be sitting at, and now Android devices, too.

Right now I'm using BusinessCalendar Free.  They also have a paid version with, apparently, more features, but I'm still trying to decide if it's worth spending the 6 or 7 dollars.
