[solved] errors when updating new install
« on: October 07, 2012, 12:36:01 PM »
Hi!  I just installed the PClinuxOS lmde edition.  I did read some on these forums about changing repositories and I did check that.  I updated through synaptic, but it showed some errors.

While installing package pcmanfm-1.0.1-1pclos2012:

warning: undefined reference to <schema id='org.gnome.desktop.default-applications.at'/>

While installing package dkms-nvidia-current-304.37-1pclos2012:

                 /usr/src/nvidia-current-304.37-1pclos2012

DKMS: add Completed.

While installing package apt-sources-list-1.0.2-1pclos2012:

warning: /etc/apt/sources.list saved as /etc/apt/sources.list.rpmsave

While installing package grep-2.14-1pclos2012:

gtk-update-icon-cache: No theme index file.

Is there something I must do to fix this?  (Although I am not sure what is wrong lol)
I did try updating through synaptic again, and checking for upgrades, but the apply button is grayed out.
I am not totally new to Linux, but I am not very knowledgeable either.  Thank you

What is the exact date and name of the version you installed on your hard drive.
I always tell anyone to try the live cd to see if it will find everything on your computer.
Sometimes you have to try a different version to get the results you want.

In spite of the (probably harmless) warning
Code: [Select]
undefined reference to <schema id='org.gnome.desktop.default-applications.at'/>nothing seems to be wrong.

Version 302.17 of the Nvidia-current module has successfully been replaced by version 304.37. If the new driver works, everything is well. If it has improved your graphics everything is even better. If it doesn't work, post back.

Hi smileeb,

I installed the current version of LXDE.  pclinuxos-lxde-2012.06.iso  The live cd worked great on this old computer! (emachines W3118)

Bald Brick, the video driver seems to be working just fine.  I just wasn't too comfortable seeing that errors occurred, especially not understanding them.

Errors are something to be concerned about

Warnings are NOT errors, so no real need for concern  ;)

MLUs rule the roost!
