Gentlemen,

I am a very happy user of Virtual Box. It satisfies my needs 100%.
Programs that don't run on PCLinuxOS run fine inside VB.
But, recently, updates in wine broke Resident Evil 4.
Oh, boy, I was almost at the end...

So, I am asking the help of the friends here in the community. Should I try to run the game inside Virtual Box, or try it in VMware ?

What do you think ? And, please, tips and comments.

Thanks in advance,

Best regards,

to play games i dualboot to avoid problems with my limited hardware and some heavy games

virtualbox only supports well some basic games because it doesn't virtualize very well the video card

I agree with T6, it's better to use dual boot if Wine fails.
Anyway if you can't dual boot, Virtual Box is much better than VMWare: I tried running games on my school's VMWare and they were slow, while in VirtualBox on my PCLinuxOS they run quite well (with quality settings at minimum).
Another thing is that since Virtual Box supports virtual USB ports you can use a gamepad even into the virtual machine, with VMWare you will have to use something like QJoyPad

Ok, thank you very much for your suggestions. I will not give this opportunity to winblow$, no way, only virtualized I will run it.
But I will try to tweak VB to its best.

Thank you gentlemen,

My best

for me, dualboot is a must have, especially because my machines are limited so i can't two os and pretend to have a good experience

if your resources allow it, i would try virtualbox first and if not enough, dualboot is nice and simple

i won't defend windows but i have been a pc technician for 12+ years and control windows to make it work is now really easy, nothing impossible, of course it takes more time but for games, it is a perfect use for it
