Mouse hover over tab gives unreadable text.(SOLVED)
« on: August 16, 2012, 12:01:08 AM »
I've noticed recently that when I hover over a tab the text appears light yellow against a light blue background making it almost unreadable. I've tried disabling all add-ons and restarting Firefox but nothing changes. Is there a way to restore the default window background and text color? I have no idea why this has changed nor can I figure out how to restore it. Thanks.

Screen shot please. Have no idea what you are talking about without more context.

I have a screen capture but don't know how to insert it here.

I'm not sure if this is the best way (probably not) but I thought I'd try it anyway since I'm not sure how to attach the image to a message here. When I move my mouse over a tab in Firefox I get the pop up window with the url address but it's almost unreadable since the text is yellow and the background is blue. The text should be black and the background should be light. Does this help?

I have a screen capture but don't know how to insert it here.

Post it to an image hosting site like http://postimage.org then copy the link and paste it in your reply.

After browsing to select the image, click the Upload It! button at the bottom.

Click the copy to clipboard button of the highlighted Hotlink for Forums (1) line, then in your reply, place the cursor where you want it, right click and choose Paste.

The pasted entry will look like this;

Highlight the bottom line and press the Backspace key to remove it...

...then Preview the reply to check for errors, and post when it is right.

Try this..

Close ALL applications. All of them.

Open

Configure Your Desktop/Application Appearance/Fonts

under "Use anti-aliasing:" Change "System Settings" to "Enabled" and then back to "System Settings".

(In other words, there will be no change, just pick any option and then pick the original option back again, don't apply the changes just yet)

This will activate the "Apply" button at the bottom of the screen.

NOW, click on "Apply".

Close the screen, open the "problem" application and see if those letters are readable.    ;D

I have been doing this for over a year on KDE.

Oddly enough, my update finally "fixed" the problem.

It seems that the update broke yours.

I never figured out why this happens. ;)

Good Luck!

EDIT: By the way, if it works you will probably have to do it every time you restart the desktop.

You didn't click the copy to clipboard button then click Paste in your reply. If you had, we wouldn't all have to click a link to see the image you want to show us; it would be on the reply itself.

If you click any of the images I've posted, you will find yourself at the upload page, seen in the first image of the postimage instruction reply. Try again, and follow all the instructions this time. ;)

You want to change something like this

Into this

If yes - Configure Your desktop > Application Appearance > colours > options > un-tick Apply colors to non KDE applications

KDE 4.10.1 : 32-Bit : 3.2.44-pclos1.pae.bfs
AMD Phenom(tm) II X6 1045T Processor @2.9GHz
8Gig DDR3 memory
‎GT218 [GeForce 8400 GS]  (Driver 310.19)

I un-checked the suggested block and restarted my computer. Problem solved. Thank Rudge for the fix and thanks OP for your help as well. Much appreciated to both of you. I'll mark this one solved.
