Sound problem on HP WX4300 Workstation with internal speaker
« on: August 15, 2012, 06:21:35 AM »
I am trying to install PCLinuxOS on a WX4300 Workstation
It has a build-in speaker and I can hear the sound through it.
But I cannot use the master in kmix to change the volume.
Some small games react when I change the PCM slider in Kmix, but often nothing happend.
And I do not have sound at all when I connect external speakers.  :'(

Suggestions?

Archie.

I have found out that the problem does not occur with the 2.6.38 kernel, but it does with the 3.2 kernel. I suppose something has changed for the ALC260 soundchip?

Suggestions?

Is there another sound device in the PC?

From the option to "Select the master channel" from the right click menu of Kmix .... do you have a choice of devices to choose?
