Dropbox not starting after laptop lid closed/opened
« on: August 12, 2012, 05:58:52 PM »
I'm running up-to-date PCLOS/KDE on an my laptop.   I recently installed
and started to use Dropbox.   The very first time I ran it, a pop-up asked
me if I wanted it to start automatically, and I said yes.   I believe
it created file $HOME/.config/autostart/dropbox.desktop and somehow that
causes Dropbox to start up when KDE starts.

I have KDE set to sleep when I close my laptop lid.   I'm not sure what all
happens when the lid is closed, but one thing for sure is the WIFI connection
is dropped.   When I reopen the lid, and hit the space bar, the laptop wakes
up, my WIFI connection is restored, and everything looks like it should,
except Dropbox does not automatically restart.    I can start it manually,
and it continues to work fine until I close/open the lid again.

I think this has something to do with the laptop-mode tools that are running.
But I'm in over my head, I need some help please.

Is there something I can do so that Dropbox starts automatically after
closing and opening my laptop lid?

As suggested, I changed Configure Your Desktop -> Hardware -> Power Management -> Power Profiles ->
Button Events Handling (for all off my power profiles) to Hibernate when the laptop lid is closed.
Previously this was set to Sleep for each power profile (which I think is the default).   Changing
the value to "Hibernate" fixed the Dropbox not starting up when the laptop lid was opened.
Can't say I really now the difference between Hibernate and Sleep....    Thanks for the suggestion.

Still strange it stopped working when sleeping to RAM.... I'd have thought it happened when sleeping to disk;  ::) 8)
