Printer Driver for Brother MFC 7340 with LXDE 2012.06....

.................OK, Now with the 1.4 CUPS update - there has been a few changes with "things"....

HERE IS THE ANSWER: for an MFC 7340 - install on LXDE: AUGUST 2012 --------------------

Have to use "CUPS"...

Go to : http://localhost:631/printer

Type in root -and YOUR root password.

---add a printer in/under "MANAGEMENT" button...

go thru the ropes, then when the DRIVER CHOICE COMES UP =

PICK the : Brother HL-5170DN Foomatic/hpijs-pcl5e

I don't know why a HP driver works, with an "HL" series BROTHER... -but it does.

do a "PRINT TEST PAGE"...

get back to your DESKTOP and go to PCC, HARDWARE and "printer" button - or find the printer in "CONFIGURE YOUR PRINTER"...and right clik and SET AS DEFAULT - or set as default printer wherever you can find such...and Enabled should be checked...
