I thought I had installed LXDE Mini 12.06. The repos indicate I'm drawing pkgs from PCLOS2010.
Is there a command I can type in the terminal that will tell me what I got?
FireFox updates, the JRE plugin says I'm out of date. I'm running 1.6.0_33, synaptic does not have a later update. Should I risk installing the Java Runtime Engine pkg update from the Java website? I think it's 7u5.
yonnie, did you do a "full update" immediately after the installation?
If you did, (which you are required to do for a proper install), you are simply "Current".
There is no valid "Current" release if you are "up to date".
It is simply called "Current or Updated".
The version numbers simply indicate "when" the last "Current .ISO" was published for installation.
A "current release" is simply a copy of an install, completely updated as of the time of its release.
So, knowing what version of PCLinuxOS you have installed becomes irrelevant when you are talking about an "up to date install".
If it has been updated, it is "current"

I installed two of my PCLinuxOS operating systems (LXDE) more that two years ago, and they are both "current"
