Hi there, I'm having some issues getting an Epson Artisan 837 All-in-one to work properly. To make a long story short, I'm familiar with Mac OS and Windows, but I don't really have any experience with linux. I'm trying to get this printer set up for my grandparent's but their computer is running PCLinux2010, and I'm not sure how to troubleshoot it at this point.
I've gone to the PCC and tried to autodetect the printer. For some reason when doing this, it says that the printer is using Parallel Port 0. The other problem is that the Artisan 837 isn't listed in the Epson models, it only lists earlier models in the series. If I delete the printer settings, and then turn the printer off and back on, it auto detects without having to run the scan and it shows up that it's connected by USB (which is probably good since that is how it's connected). However, the Artisan 837 model still isn't listed, and it won't print when I try to print a test page. I tried to created a text document and print that to see if it would work. When I do so, the print option is blocked out because it says that the printer is "rejecting jobs".
As I'm not familiar with PCLinuxOS, is the fact that the 837 isn't listed causing the problem? If so, how can I get some drivers for it to make it work? If that's not the case, what else might be causing the problem? Any help would be appreciated.
