I am removing Iron today and installing the Chromium browser as suggested. I will tweak what I can and wait to see a list of other potential privacy tweaks. thanks all for enlightening me.  :)

Hummm, let me know how things evolve. If you can make it as light/lean as Iron, I will follow you.

I have been told here that we can do exactly what iron is with advanced settings in chromium. I hope that is the case.

List of Chromium Command Line Switches.

If you are already using Chromium, type chrome://about/ on the address bar for a list of Chrome URLs.

So that is dealing with Chromium. That is what we are supposed to use as opposed to Chrome?

There are lots of post on tweaks and sandboxing here at the forum and elsewhere on the Internet. We all use setups specific to our needs.

Very good question.

Chromium is in the repo (Chromium-browser). Built by Linux devs for Linux. Borrowed by Google to make Chrome.
Chrome. A Google fork of Chromium-browser. Can be installed but without forum support.

At least that is how I understand it.  :)

Chromium-Browser would be my recommendation but like what T6 posted, we have Firefox, Opera, Konqueror, Rekonq, Epiphany, Seamonkey, Dillo, Jumanji, Midori, Qupzilla, the dead Flock, etc. that are alternatives. I am sure that with enough prodding, users can make them just as fast (if not even faster), secured and streamlined as what others are using.

I am quite happy with my use of chromium-browser but I'm sure it isn't for everyone. But since we are on the topic of Iron, it is probably the closest to an alternative.

Iron is the only browser I can use to play yahoo games.

Firefox, Opera, Konqueror... none of them work for the games.

I wonder what makes that so?

"I wonder what makes that so?"

I don't know.  I'm guessing something to do with java or the applet yahoo uses.
FF "freezes" as does Opera & Konqueror to an extent(enough to render unusable to me).

"What about chromium-browser?"

I don't know.
If it is in the repo I will install and get back here later to reply.

Thank-you for the suggestion.  :)

Works perfect!

Iron is gone.

Will change my vote if I can.

Have a great day!

Makes sense, since Iron is just a re-branded Chromium.  Glad that worked out for you...
