What happened to TB 14? We never even got 13.... When will it be in the repos?

With the recent frenetic pace of Firefox and Thunderbird "upgrades", it may be that the packaging crew has evaluated the risk/benefit ratio and are sitting this one out?  I would venture to guess someone knows something we don't.

I haven't heard of any urgent fixes or user enhancements in version 13 and 14.  Version 12 works just fine, why the rush?

I was actually hoping the notification sound issue that I have would be fixed, though I'm not holding my breath....

Thunderbird 14 for 64bit sent to dropbox.
Can't get the 32bit version compiled, so until someone else looks into this you will have to stay with TB12 on 32bit.

It's not the 64-bit HW that's issue (usually)...it's the lack of the 64-bit release not being official, yet, I would imagine. ;)

I just updated my machine with (I think) 4 packages, Tbird was one of them. Now Tbird, Firefox, & Iron browsers all fail to load. I get the blinking cursor for a few seconds & then it stops. I can't imagine how an update could affect 3 different programs, but they worked fine before.

On 8/6:
upgraded the following packages:
curl (7.26.0-1pclos2012) to 7.27.0-1pclos2012
libcurl4 (7.26.0-1pclos2012) to 7.27.0-1pclos2012
mozilla-thunderbird (12.0.1-1pclos2012) to 14.0-1pclos2012
webmin (1.490-1pclos2009) to 1.590-1pclos2012

Just in case, also:
on 8/5:
Upgraded the following packages:
opera (12.00-1pclos2012) to 12.01-1pclos2012

On 8/2:
Upgraded the following packages:
addlocale (4.2-2pclos2012) to 4.2-3pclos2012

I rebooted trying to fix a stubborn printer & that's when the problem surfaced. I will try again.

Thanks,
Dave

Update: another reboot changed nothing

when that happens, then
1) open a terminal (i.e. Konsole)
2) enter the name of the program, like firefox
3) post the output of the result here

which may give a first indication what caused the error.

thanks for helping out.

Well, that was easy. When I opened the terminal, before I even typed anything, there was a message abut being unable to chmod my temp folder. I actually missed it at first & typed "firefox" & got "unable to write to /home/davepet/tmp" Same message on typing "thunderbird".

I checked /home/davepet/tmp & sure enough root owns it now. Changed ownership back to davepet & they are all working now.

Thanks for the tip,

Dave

The webmin update package is bad and will screw up your tmp ownership/permissions.

Thanks to everyone who donates. You keep the servers running.

Is webmin bad or just this particular update? I'd never noticed webmin until this update & actually opened it up & took a look around, but didn't think I'd changed anything....
Is it needed?
