How is this different to Thunderbird ?

Just looking at ...

makes me shiver with urges to REJECT it without any justifiable explanation. Well, maybe experiences with Hotmail in the long forgotten past.

I only check in on it once every few months or so, but I actually still have a Hotmail address from the days before MS bought it.  I saw the reports on the whole outlook.com thing yesterday and so I thought I would have a peak.

It will never become my primary email, but I have to say, the new site is nice, as much as it pains me to say that.  It is very simply designed, and I found it to be quite fast.  Like I said, it will never become my primary email, but it is nice to know that I won't have to navigate the crap that Microsoft turned hotmail into any more.

Their spam filter is still a steaming pile of poo though with obvious spam making it into the inbox and legitimate mail being sent to the spam folder.

It just ties you into all the other MS services. It is another way to lock you into using their stuff.

Just why do they need my phone number to keep my account secure???

And how about that "Trusted PC" bit.  What part about using Windows IE and having LiveEssentials installed am I suppose to trust???

You can put lipstick on a pig, but it is still just a pig!

Hotmail users vent fury over Outlook.com problems

Hotmail users have been left fuming at Microsoft after being automatically upgraded to an Outlook.com email address without asking.

There have been over 55 pages worth of complaints in the Microsoft Answers forum and IT Pro readers have also been in touch to confirm they are having problems.

There are four major issues being reported:

1) Some users have been upgraded without their permission. The “Go Back to Hotmail” option does not seem to work for everyone.

Microsoft has confirmed once an email is switched to Outlook, it cannot be changed back.

Unfortunately there is no way to rename to an existing account. This is something we're investigating for future improvements,” Microsoft said in the forum.

2) Not everyone has been able to upgrade to Outlook.com – with some users being greeted with a blank screen and others with error messages.

3) Most worryingly, some users have been unable to see their old emails from their Hotmail account after upgrading.

4) Problems are also being reported with the Hotmail Human Interactive Proof (HIP) validation process. Errors are appearing saying the characters don't match with the ones in the 'picture'. Microsoft has recognised this problem in the forum and is working to fix this issue.

hehe, they always find a way to spoil things.

Hotmail  ??? It's Windows live or something nowadays, plus I can't log in, always says try again later. I have the daily news going back to 2004 sitting in my Inbox.  ::)

It's a well known fact that Microsoft can't make anything work, but they are good at collectling peoples money. There's some kind of Mad genius algorithm behind it all, or they're just plain lucky, and the rest of the World isn't.  :o
