If you have the do-vesa package installed from Synaptic you can run
"do-vesa" from terminal or console and reboot into vesa mode.

thanks for the reply Ferdes

but I can not get the boot up...
the boot stops at bootfile to big.
and I know to type in "LiveCD" but it goes directly into the boot that detects my nvidia card and loads the latest drivers
and the computer freezes at the login screen.
It does not go to the boot screen so I can enable the vesa option.
I need a command option:

example
LiveCD -vesa or LiveCD -safe

or even to get me to the boot screen so I can set the vesa driver.

thanks in advance.. Deck

what hardware do you have?  are you installing it on a old notebook?

or perhaps is it a new laptop with two video cards?

Did you try those?

What about

LiveCD vesa

?
Any other combinations you tried?

Is this your own remastered ISO or is it an original PCLOS ISO?

It is five yrs old.  HDX9494nr.  Nvidia8800m gts.  Nvidia broke the linux vid drivers for this chipset about two yrs ago.
I had PCLinuxOS running for about a year and a half and could not update the driver.  hard drive failure, and now can not boot the live cd because of automatically setting the vid card to the latest drivers.

tried the  LiveCD with the vesa and safe option but no go.  nvidia drivers still load and freeze at login screen.

Any Other suggestions would be appreciated.  Also I do use the original PCLOS cd from the site not a remaster.

thanks again, Deck
