Xena ....... I added a second instance of the menu launcher widget to my tray and it appears to display its own settings .
That's what I wanted from the beginning, but it didn't manage.
Every time I change something in the one, it changes also in the second one.
Hence my remark to put it on ice till the new iso comes out, whenever that will be.
I got that feeling I am working/feeling/guessing/thinking in the dark.
I guess what I mean is ....... is there a means to edit the config of the second instance so that it 'points' to a different 'set' of options/contents?
OK, again, I am talking about things I don't know the first thing about, so, beware

The original config file is ""somewhere"" deep in the inners of the beast.
This file is probably a read only ( or something like that ) for the following reason.
If I go into KmenuEdit, I can restore anytime I wish so to original settings with one single click.
So, therefore that original file can/is/will be not altered.
Also, this original file has to be a reference of kind when Synaptic updates ( or something like that )
I know there is a connection.
When you modify the menu with drag and drop, a second file gets created in /home/xena/.config/menu. This /menu is not there by default. It also gets created after the first time you modify. After that, it does not disappear, but will be empty if you restore to original settings.
Now, my guess is that there can be
only one at a time in /home/xena/.config/menu
Therefore, what I/we want is not possible the "noobs' way.
A solution is to manually create different <applications-kmenuedit.menu> files and put them in different folders ( bu1-bu2-bu3 ) and make kind of a batch file what takes out the manual work
But then, who will need something like that, but me

I think , instead of chasing ghosts, I am going to stick with one or more of the following:
-Lancelot
-Takeoff launcher widget
-QuickAccessBrowser widget
-Fancy taste widget ( try it for fun )
-application Launcher menu widget
Start

OK, don't feel bad that I took so much time to enlighten you.
I had to do it for myself, because on Monday I will otherwise remember nothin'-nada-niks nie !
End
